a gallery

of stills, raw materials, and notes on planetbeeseed

a still from the film "The Secret Garden"
a still from the film "the Secret Garden"
is held in sustain on planet beeseed

the basics:

planet beeseed was a collage of home movies melded with commercial films and music by 13 Videos, an amateur filmmaker's working title.

while the theme of the film was unique, the contents were not.  it was a conglomeration of commercial media, in re-edit (i.e. based on t.v. film and sounds mostly "belonging" to others).

due to legalities and issues of "genuine" creativity, the complete
planet beeseed was never released for public distribution.

planet beeseed is only a concept, it is not a film anymore.

you didn't miss much.  you missed it all.

most of planetbeeseed was edited via home vcr to home vcr and with the occasional use of a Sony video effects generator. additional editing and compiling were made via home computer originality was based on restructured intermesh of language (via film edit), as well as original animations, interactive menus, audio mixing, titling.

the one hour fictional video compilation "planetbeeseed"
was created jan - march 2005

meanwhile i am looking for better chalk for usage in cinematic expression.

"dead" liner notes - and one "living" film extract below:

boosting the color levels on the costumes of
a samba troupe from a street parade in brazil
excerpted from footage found on the internet

Impressionism in motion.  how pleasing!

the original graphics as found on the internet which were
combined and animated in the video "moonlight tangos"

a customized graphic using one of the moons was made for the video as well

Here's a still from the video "Moonlight Tangos" which was the
first video made for this project other than the production trailer for becalmed
The video features superimposed imagery from fritz lang's metropolis
combined with a looped excerpt of a song by laurie anderson
that is based on the poem by edward lear called
'"
the owl and the pussycat"
(what a mouthful!)
It's a great poem about the quirky nature of romantics and a must read!

basic clipart from Microsoft online is animated
and then superimposed
for the flower rain sequences

making the animations took forever because I did it largely by
the old fashioned way (non-motion software enabled,  picture by picture animation)!
learning a method of how to superimpose on
cheap but good! freeware (free software) took another forever!

a butterfly that showed up
because of the flowers

a still taken from Tetsuo: The Iron Man also surfaces on planetbeeseed

i have no idea who this man is but i like him already!

"falling" by sharon paz has become a controversial art piece
that brings very mixed emotions and memory back
(it was sampled into the opening of Fantastic Voyage
 with sadness and confusion)

a satellite dish taken from home video footage
shots years ago in rice lake, wisconsin
remains the official becalmed icon

The 13th chose this flag for the film simply because of the number of stars

a nod to performance artist laurie anderson for her inspiring style and wit

of course, planetbeeseed is venus!

this isn't the whole film - just some sidenotes written very much on the fly
a complete list of source material appears in the film

synchronicity and the inspiration:

some things are better without interpretation i think

no matter what you understand there's always more...

life's magic simply is

one of the many "found" scenes in the video "bee friends"
yes.  that's me!  at one point anyway...

sweet dreams!
